Users do have the option of requesting that controllers are configured before delivery, but it is also straightforward for users and integrators to do this themselves.

Shibaura Machine robots can be installed and operated by different types of users, and their requirements for installation and integration work may vary. For this reason, it is important that controllers and their parameters can be easily configured by system integrators and end users to fit their applications. All Shibaura Machine robots use the SCOL robot programming language , similar to BASIC, to make configuration straightforward.

The controllers’ USER.PAR file allows the end user to configure application-specific parameters and functions. Integrators and users can change payload settings to adjust speed and acceleration and change communication settings to suit their set-up. Users can also configure soft limits and control modes, selecting a mode most appropriate for the task carried out by the robot.

The controllers allow integrators and end users to also configure user alarms and robot safety features — it is straightforward to gain control of robots on individual axes, for example, or to adjust maximum torque to improve safety and function.
